For TikTok content — which is the primary organic traffic strategy for Shopify stores right now — CapCut is purpose-built. It understands the format, has trending templates, and makes it easy to produce scroll-stopping content quickly.
For product videos on TikTok, CapCut lets me create content that would take 3x longer in Canva. The auto-caption feature alone saves significant time on every video — and captions dramatically increase watch time.

Where Canva Still Wins
For static design, Canva is unmatched at this price point. The Brand Kit keeps your colors, fonts, and logo consistent across everything — email headers, product images, social graphics, presentations. The Background Remover tool is genuinely useful for product photos. The template library is enormous.
Canva's video features have improved, but they're still not as flexible as CapCut for serious video editing. For a quick social post with a video clip, Canva is fine. For anything more complex, CapCut is the better tool.
The Verdict: Use Both — They're Both Free to Start
Since both tools have solid free plans, there's no reason to choose. Use Canva for static content — product images, email graphics, presentations, anything that needs to match your brand. Use CapCut for video — TikTok, Reels, product demos, anything that moves.

CapCut's free version is still the most generous on the market, but its paid plans changed in early 2026 — the top tier now costs $19.99/month and includes the full AI toolkit and 4K export.
